Jackie and Jessie - Teaser Trailer

Sometimes I wish I could just use a real ARRI camera to film my weddings. They allow for anamorphic recording. For those of you non-movie-buffs, that means the screen is really wide. To me, the way you can tell a story in an anamorphic aspect ratio is so much more fulfilling than a standard 16:9 widescreen so commonly used today. For Jackie and Jesse's wedding, I just went ahead and made my footage anamorphic in post-production. A tedious workflow but so worth it when you see the difference it makes in the film. Here is a prime example using Jackie and Jesse's same day edit.

Jillian+Chris - Same Day Edit {married} New Jersey/NewYork Wedding Cinematographer

There's a town near our home-base here at the Jersey Shore known as Rumson. It's home to legendary rockers Job Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. It also has some of the most beautiful riverfront in all the east coast. I would say it was a beautiful day in Rumson, NJ for Jillian and Chris' wedding ceremony and then the reception in the backyard of Jillian's parent's home on the Shrewsbury River, but the truth is, it rained. It rained and the wind was nasty to say the least. Jillian and Chris put some effort into making sure all of their guests had umbrellas to match the wedding decor, but they didn't last long. You will see why in their film preview ;)

Nonetheless, the wedding was beautiful and Jillian and Chris could not have been more accommodating and easy to work with as they didn't let the poor weather dampen their spirits. Here's the preview teaser for their upcoming wedding film from Your's Truly.

There's a few places around central NJ where I always find my self filming at least twice a year.
Merri-Makers Water's Edge is one of those venues. It's situated right on the Atlantic Ocean and is just minutes away from the best of what NJ has to offer in terms of great photo locations. Shannon and Dave took some photos at historic Monmouth University at the very building that posed as Daddy Warbuck's palace in "Annie the Movie."

My, my, my. The weddings from last year are really rolling out. I have quite a few weddings booked in New Jersey this coming year. A few of them are at one of my favorite Garden State venues, Nanina's in the Park. Nanina's has lush grounds, great food, a very film-friendly ballroom, and an amazing staff. Everytime I film there it's a great experience.

Ivette and Ricky had an amazing daytime wedding. With the ceremony right out on the patio with the beautiful summer greenery behind them and their emotional service, the two were the perfect recipe for a great day and a great film.

Gabriella + Patrick {Married} / New York New Jersey Wedding Cinematographer

Halaree + Jason {Married} Connecticut Wedding Cinematographer

This wedding celebration lasted for two days! Halaree's family is both Cambodian and Chinese and the wedding ceremony reflected elements from both cultures. Family traditions and new traditions combine to make a unique, and beautiful wedding ceremony captured in this SAME DAY EDIT.

Rob Adams Films Joins Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book

If there was an exclusive list of wedding vendors that represented the top 5% of the nation's best in terms of quality, cutting-edge style, and demand, it would be called Style Me Pretty's LITTLE BLACK BOOK OF PREFERRED VENDORS. It just so happens that list does exist and Rob Adams Films is honored to say that we have been chosen to be on it!

This is a great achievement for us because it puts Rob Adams Films on the same list as wedding cinema greats Ray Roman, Phillip Bloom, StillMotion, and Michael W Wong. Now, I don't particularly think I'm up to their stature yet, but it shows promise that we are certainly headed in the right direction.

The big 10-10-10! Nicole and Mike booked us a LONG time ago, when early-bird brides were clamoring to lock in their preferred vendors for this historic date. The wedding definitely did not disappoint as the day was perfect, the couple was great to work with and even though I'm a die-hard NY Rangers fan, it was amusing (I must admit) to see a special appearance from the official NEW JERSEY DEVIL. Morgan and Chris {Married} / Berkeley-Carteret Hotel New Jersey Wedding Cinematographer

When you think of Asbury Park, NJ what comes to mind? Dilapidated buildings, Bruce Springsteen, The Stone Pony maybe? For me, it's the Berkeley Hotel. Newly renovated in 2006 the hotel is now a major attraction for on-site weddings. Thrown in a nice day on the boardwalk and the it's a recipe for a great shoot for Morgan and Chris. Here is the FULL-LENGTH FEATURE FILM of their day.

I can never understand why people stand in line at Carlos Bakery, that famous place from that reality show about cakes. It just seems ridiculous to me, but I do love filming in Hoboken, NJ. We took to the streets with Kate and Chris and their rather large bridal party to take some fabulous photos and cinema. I have a new favorite venue and it's right in my backyard. I've filmed at Eagle Oaks Country Club before but I don't think I've ever had a more beautiful wedding day there. The weather, the couple, the building, the ceremony, even the Bride's preparations, right there on-site and picture-perfect. To boot, Jennifer and Matthew were stellar to work with and our same day edit got rave reviews at the reception. This has been such a busy summer that I'm finding it difficult to keep up with the blogging. With so many weddings to choose from, I simply cannot blog them all. But this one was very cool.

Ali and Manish had a dual ceremony wedding. Manish being Hindu and Ali being Christian, they decided to let both of their religions be a part of the day with two totally separate and unique ceremonies.

The Middle of the Season and Still Going Strong / New Jersey Wedding Videographer/Cinematographer

We are really having a great string of clients this wedding season. We have been fortunate enough to film some really great and unique weddings in some really great and unique places. On Friday we filmed Margaret and Rich on Sunday at the Manor in West Orange, NJ and Natasha and Dan on Sunday at the Westmount Country Club. Just look at the SAME DAY EDITS and you'll see why. Mike and Meryl {Married} / Boston Wedding Videographer/Cinematographer

Sorry New York. I have to say that Boston is now my favorite American city. It's not because of the awesome wedding that Vanessa and I were fortunate enough to be asked to capture this past 4th of July weekend (well, not totally). It's not because of the smarter traffic patterns. It's not because of the great nightlife, food, beautiful local culture, and amazingly friendly people. These are all contributing factors. But the real reason that Boston has knocked The Big Apple from it's top spot is one simple thing.....PHOTO LOCATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

Boston has some the most beautiful places to film I've ever seen. Everywhere I looked while spending the week exploring and trekking the city on foot, I found some unique and utterly gorgeous backgrounds, bustling with fun, colorful, and delightful street-life. And while New York does have this too, New York has one thing Boston does not.....congestion. At least not the type of congestion I've become sick of working in the NYC metro area for many years.

I still love the NY/NJ area, but if an opportunity ever came up to relocate, I would have to give it some serious consideration and big points for what I saw this past week.

Here is a just a taste of some of the locations we filmed for Meryl and Mike's wedding on July 3rd. NJ residents themselves, M and M (as I call them) have family ties to Boston and it was an absolute pleasure to travel up to do their wedding.

Holmdel park is a great place to shoot an E-Session. We had to do a small bit of sneaking around to gain access to the back of the barn with the cool red door and it wasn't long before we were booted, but it was worth it. Introducing Our New Engagement Video!!!!

Thanks to the wonders of VDSLR technology and our newest cinematography techniques, I am announcing the official launch of our new E-Session video style. It works by taking our clients on a day/night shoot in the location of their choosing and doing a voice/over session on a separate day to bring the piece to life. This particular video was used to introduce the newlyweds into the reception.

Ah, the Memorial Day holiday weekend! We all know how rain can put a big damper on that busy weekend. But after two days of soggy, damp weather to start the weekend, Sunday turned out to be just perfect for Julie and Darren. The wedding ceremony was beautiful and the reception at the Crystal Point Yacht Club at the Jersey Shore was a big hit with the guests. Season Kick-Off 2010

It's May and that means wedding season is in full-swing. I count May 1st as the official start to the season here in the northeast because I don't tend to do many weddings in March and April.

I've been a bit behind in my blogging so there's 3 to tell you about today:

First off Melissa and Bill got married at West Point Academy. The church was amazing! One of the most beautiful churches I've ever seen, but definitely a challenge to shoot in. Here is the SAME DAY EDIT from their wedding day:

Next up was Kristin and J in NYC. It was very windy on the rooftop of Studio 450 but the day was great all around and we got some great shots!

Finally, on May 8th it was Sabrina and Mike at the beautiful Tarrytown House in Tarrytown, NY. Rain threatened in the forecast but it turned out to be great weather and the day was a big success.

SmugMug Users Unite!

Mixers are always fun, especially when you have the chance to network with some very talented photographers and film-makers. At Jason Groupp's studio in Chelsea this past Wednesday, the local NYC chapter of the SmugMug users group got together and heard all about my favorite topic of late, Fusion and the 5D Mark II. We covered the newest firmware update and rubbed elbows with the likes of Cinematographer Bruce Dorn and Mr. Groupp himself. Here is short collage of the night just for fun :)

Laura and Andy - SAME DAY EDIT

My wife is turning out to be an amazing cinematographer! Her knowledge of the 5D and her talented photographic eye are making for some great shots and it's been a great pleasure having her accompany me on my last few shoots to help me get acclimated to my new gear.

Vanessa is able to capture a lot of the details and things I can't cover when using the new Glidetrack™ rig I just built and some of the Steadicam work I've been doing. She's done a great job and many of her shots are included in this SAME DAY EDIT from Laura and Andy's wedding on March 6th.

The wedding itself was great. We had unseasonably warm weather and we even able to take to the beach for a few shots before the bridesmaids feet started to freeze off from being barefooted in the cold sand :)

NY/NJ State PPA Seminar Preview

Later this month on March 25th, Vanessa Joy and I will be speaking once again at the joint NY/NJ Professional Photographers Association Convention in Albany, NY.

Once again we will be teaching about Photo/Video Fusion and showing photographers the ease of working with short video clips to enhance their product lines. New Name -New Website - New Look

So many great things happened in 2009. First off, I married the love of my life and Rob Adams Productions took to new heights with an all new approach to making wedding films and that new style continues to evolve and get better everyday. So in the essence of keeping with the changing motif and new horizons in regards to the new VDSLRS and PhVusion offierings, Rob Adams Productions is now Rob Adams Wedding Cinematography.

The name is change is more reflective of the type of work we are creating and I'm hoping to build on that even more in the coming months with some new ideas I'm eager to begin incorporating into my videos.

So with that, a bit of branding had to be updated as I felt my old logo-type was a bit passe. There will be an entirely new logo and newly-designed press materials coming this spring but for now I decided to go ahead and design an all new website:

The design is much more streamlined and I've added all new HD films, links to www.PhVusion.com and Vanessa and even debuted a new calendar page where brides can check my availability right on the website. Existing clients of RAWC may even login to our client account system to check their balances, update their information, provide me with their itinerary and upload files.

It is by far the most comprehensive and cleanly designed website I've created to date.

That's all for now. The one good thing about the off-season is you can get things like this done

Panayiota and Constantinos - SAME DAY EDIT

In all reality I'm not much of a "Valentine's Day" guy. I mean, I like to acknowledge it by giving flowers or doing something nice on a very simple level, but I'm not one for champagne dinners and slow-dancing at a restaurant in front of strangers. So it was perfectly fitting that Vanessa and I were working a wedding this February 14. (By-the-way, Vanessa did get a bouquet of 48 roses from yours truly.)

This was special because Vanessa was shooting video with me this time and not still photos and she did an AMAZING job! In fact, quite a few of the shots in this SAME DAY EDIT are hers. I bet you can't tell the difference between what I shot and she took...

Penny and Constantinos were an amazing, fun couple and we were glad to do an awesome 3 camera shoot for them. My good friend and fellow cinematographer Danny Foxx collaborated with us on this one.

Redefining the Mile-High Club

If there were a club for people who get engaged at 33,000 feet aboard an airliner, it probably would not be called the "Mile-High Club." That name has already been taken by a different group. But if there were such a club, Kristin and Darren would likely be among its newest members. Vanessa and I had the extreme pleasure of accompanying Darren as he surprised Kristin with the question while making a transcontinental flight to Las Vegas. After the proposal, it was a lunch at Serendipity 3, a mini make-over, and then an impromptu engagement PhVusion shoot in and around Las Vegas. Here's the story in pure Rob Adams/Vanessa Joy fashion:

Julie and Matthew - SAME DAY EDIT

The 2010 wedding season is officially underway and I kicked it all off with a winter wedding, Jersey Shore style for Julie and Matt on January 17th. The Mill at Spring Lake provided an appropriate background for pictures and the chapel at Allaire State Park hosted a packed wedding ceremony sheltering dozens of guests from the cold, pouring rain outside. Despite the weather, it was fun and creative day. Thanks to Doug Burns from Candid Moments Photography for his creative insight and cooperation. It's great making new friends on the circuit. The Start of a New Year and a New Life

March seems like it was a long time ago and it also feels like it was just yesterday. That's when I proposed to the love of my life, Vanessa Joy Scavone. Now, I am proud to announce my new wife as Vanessa Joy Adams :)

Our wedding was the best day of my life. Everything was perfect. From the start of the day, to the weather, to the beautiful ceremony, to the photo session, right down to the last dance of the night, I could not have asked for a more flawless wedding day.

I am elated to join my life with Vanessa's. We have so much to look forward to and I cherish each and ever day I get to spend with this wonderful woman. Here's just a taste of the amazing collaboration of photo work by one of out photographers Ahmetze.

Last wedding of 2009! Laurie and Steve

Well, this is it. The next time I shoot a wedding, I will be a married man myself. We finished off the year filming Laurie and Steve and what a great wedding it was! I got to shoot with my pal and my wedding photographer Ahmetze (who happened to be celebrating his birthday that day and was presented with a lovely cake by the Bride and Groom) and had a great shoot despite the cold.

Late season weddings always pose significant challenges and require a certain degree of adaptation and creativity to ensure that the day is covered artistically, which can be a struggle in low-light. Every so often you come across a wedding that just inspires you to take a different approach. To stretch the limits and experiment because of the potential that lies in what could be. I shot Cristina and Tommy's Wedding a bit differently on Friday. Mainly because I was using my new 5D Mark II camera and less of my traditional HD video camera. Normally this is something that can be done effectively when have a second cameraperson but in this case, I decided to go it alone and I think it works very well. My First Band Photo Credit

Many of you already know that my future Father-in-Law is somewhat of a rock star and if you've heard the classic tune "Black Betty" by Ram Jam, then you've heard the voice of Myke Scavone.

Now as front man of the legendary Jersey rock band The Doughboys, Myke and his crew have just recently released their second album entitled "Act Your Rage" which is already being praised by rock critics.

I was lucky enough to take a few photos for Myke and the boys one night at "Asbury Lanes" in Asbury Park and it just so happens that one of those photos ended up in the CD design work.

It's a real thrill to be credited on the album and I'm truly honored to have one of my photos on the packaging. Thanks to The Doughboys for helping to keep real rock alive and for including my work on the CD case of theirs. Here are some images of the CD design:

PhVusion Slideshow - Trash the Dress

I am simply amazed lately by what can be done by shooting with the new video technology that is now available to videographers turned cinematographers like myself. Just a few short weeks ago, my wonderful Fiance Vanessa Joy and I tandem shot a Trash-the-Dress session with a great couple, Viviane and Ty. We took to the beach and wasted no time getting sandy and wet while I tested out the new Canon 7D. While I do like the 7D, I ended up opting for the 5D Mark II which will be arriving this week. :D

Our all new line of PhVusion (Trade Name Patent Pending) items are becoming a bit hit. A large majority of our new clients are booking items such as our PhVusion Video Photo Album, our PhVusion Wedding Websites (Yet to be blogged about) and our newly released PhVusion Slideshow of which we made of Viviane and Ty's photo and video.

Goodbye videocameras, hello VDSLR!

My cinematic dream has come true. I can now shoot full 1080p video using DSLR optics (still camera lenses for the layman) and get the full out look of shooting with film in the same compact design of a still photo camera. Canon has just released the 7D, and like it's big brother, the Canon 5D Mark II, it shoots amazing quality video with all of the benefits of using high aperature, high quality lenses.

I'm very grateful for the chance to bring the kind of look I've ben watching photographers create for years, into my own style of video. In fact, it's not even really videography anymore, it's cinematography. I'm still actually trying to decide whether to choose the 7D over the more-expensive 5D Mark II based on several things. For one the 7D seems to lack in the high ISO department, creating more noise than the 5D at higher ISO speeds. Also, stability is a factor. The camera is lightweight and dificult to hold steady for any length of time. That's why whichever choice I make I will most certainly be purchasing some of the Red Rock or Zacuto accessories to make handling the camera much easier.

Check out this video that was made using the 7D at a wedding I just shot. Notice the difference in depth in the shots and the film like quality. Thanks go out to Kristin and Mike for allowing me to use them as test subjects :) Your wedding was great!!!! ENJOY.

FUSION Albums

The future of wedding imagery is here and Vanessa and I are trying to be right on the cutting edge with some great new products that we hope will revolutionize wedding photography and videography in New Jersey.

It's already happening on the West Coast and even in NYC, so we are not the first ones to offer photo/video fusion services by far. However, I do believe we are the very first in our own area to start offering a merge of the two, using professional still photos in our video presentations and even video in our photo presentations.

Now, you may be asking how the latter is possible. Well, it's called Digital Fusion Albums and we've made our first one. These are bound to undergo some serious changes in the coming year because this is our first crack at it but essentially it is a photo album, designed exactly how your wedding album would be designed only it incorporates live moving video and is then presented in full 1080p HD video.

Take a look at it. For the best effect, click on the video title to view in HD. You must have a fast connection to do this.

Our goal is to incorporate these into our destination wedding packages with this being something that is shown on the day after the wedding to the attendees at breakfast or brunch. Its always fun to shoot a wedding where you know your family is going to be in attendance. For Rebekah and Greg on Saturday night, my brother and my little baby nephew Reade were there. My Sister-in-Law Kelly is the Groom sister and was in the bridal party so that left my Brother Ray to make sure Reade got plenty of dancing time during the party. You can't shoot them all. And if there was ever a wedding I would have LOVED to have shot, it's Ty and Viviane's wedding on October 11, 2009. I personally had another booking that day so it was up to my good friend and cinematographer extraordinaire DANNY FOXX to capture it all...and he did! This is a piece Danny slapped together just after the wedding to tease the couple's final video edit that will be completed in the near future.

You know a Bride and Groom are Giants Football fans when they insist on the game being on TV in the reception room. It was a glorious Sunday for a wedding and football as Kelly and Andy tied the knot. Not only did they have a beautiful, fun, and intimate wedding but the Giants pounded the Oakland Raiders 44-7 to the delight of the wedding's 100 something guests. Congrats on the big day and the big win!

It's not often that you keep constant contact with a client between the time they've booked up until the day of their wedding. With Mitch and I, it was different. From the time we met and had our booking consultation and became friends on Facebook, it was common for this particular groom and I to trade and post comments back and forth regularly. I have to say that Mitch and Mariella's wedding was AMAZING. I've never seen Nanina's in the Park look so decked out and everything from the music to the 6 tier wedding cake was simply magnificent. Congrats to the two of them as their begin their new life together.

I've seen a lot of weddings. I've seen a lot of different things happen at weddings. I've even seen some amazing and unbelievable things at some weddings, but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw Friday night at Jenni and Kevin's wedding. As it is a six-year family tradition in the groom's family, the Bridal Party, Bride and Groom, and even any guests who had the stomach, were invited and encouraged to eat.....GOLDFISH.

Yes. The guests at my Friday wedding ate goldfish. Not cooked, not steamed, not flayed, but raw, squirming, right-out-of-the bowl ALIVE.

Here is the SAME DAY EDIT from Jenni and Kevin's wedding but without the raw fish-eating. I'll try to post that sometime in the near future. Once I can handle watching it again......

We didn't even know it happened till today but the Asbury Park Press published an article about Vanessa and I in their September 25th, 2009 edition! We finally managed to get our hands on the paper thanks to a call out to our Facebook friends. What's more, Vanessa did a great job writing the piece. Sarah and George - SAME DAY EDIT

Sarah and George were my first ever engagement session video couple. You may remember the video found here. Vanessa and I had a great time shooting their wedding this past Saturday night and this is the Same Day Edit from their wedding. In case you don't know, these are short videos that I edit during cocktail hour and have playing on a loop at the reception. We then add music and upload it here the week after the wedding.

Now I'm really excited for my own wedding. On Friday September 25th, 2009, I was lucky enough to shoot Cristin and Kevin's wedding at the very same banquet hall where Vanessa and I will be having our reception this December...Eagle Ridge Golf Club.

Cristin and Kevin had a classic church ceremony at one of my favorite chapels St. Mary's in Middletown. Then it was off to Eagle Ridge for a super-fun photo session complete with golf cart, clubs, and of course and really fun wedding party.

The Evolution of the Wedding Dance

You may remember a while back, that viral video on YouTube "The Evolution of Dance." It depicted a man taking us through, by demonstration to a medley of music, the entire range of dance fads from the 50's to the present day. Well, Mike and Marissa took it upon themselves to make their own version of the "evolution" slightly modified for the wedding industry. Very entertaining for those of us who see these dances ad nauseam in the course of filming hundreds of weddings. Please note that this video is RAW.

If you ask me, the Fall is the best time for a wedding. Now, I know it's not officially Fall, but the weather recently sure has been Fall-like. This past weekend gave us blue skies, warm afternoon sun, and an all-around picture-perfect day for an outdoor photo session. Congrats to Marissa and Mike who tied the knot on Saturday at the shore. Now if this weather would only continue through October to make up for the terrible rains we had in June.

Our New Studio

Freehold, NJ has always been a part of my life, even though it is a town I've never set roots down in. I remember coming out to Freehold when I was just a kid to visit the newly built Freehold Raceway Mall. Or as a teenager to go to the race track and sneak a few bets. And yes, there were even those times when I had to pay a required visit to the Monmouth County Courthouse to answer to a few moving violations. But as many times as I drove past the old victorian house located at 62 East Main St., I never really thought it would one day be the new home to my business. But now it is.

Vanessa Joy and I have finally moved into our new digs and are just putting the final touches on the new home of Rob Adams Productions and Vanessa Joy Photography. While we are withholding revealing the inside at least until shortly before the Grand Opening Reception we're planning for October 4th, we can say that the consultation area is ready for HD video viewing complete with an HDMI hookup for the MacBook Pro, (thanks to good friend Justin LeBlanc) and well adorned with Vanessa's signature work displayed on metal murals and canvases.

Thanks to all who have sent their well-wishes as we tie the business knot.

Our Wedding Website - 100 Days and Counting

It's really starting to dawn on me: I'll be married in just over 100 days at this point. I really am excited and I can't really express enough how much I LOVE my amazing Fiance, Vanessa Joy. But, time is moving so fast and before you know it, we'll be the ones in front of the camera instead of the ones taking the photos and video.

I honestly can't wait our wedding because it is really going to be a blast and I really am looking forward to professing my love to VJ in front of all our family and friends. :D

To honor the occasion and to provide some important information about our gift registry, Vanessa and I have designed a website that we think fits right in with our love for photography.

Laura and Brandon - SAME DAY EDIT

As much as I love to travel and film weddings, there's something to be said about shooting in your own backyard. Laura and Brandon had their entire wedding in Red Bank, NJ, just steps from the Rob Adams Productions studios at the Oyster Point Hotel.

One of the highlights of their wedding was no doubt their awesome groom's cake from the famous Ace of Cakes.

The effects of Hurricane Danny weren't enough to put a damper on my Saturday wedding this week. Renee and Rich still had a chance to get outside and take some awesome pictures with the help of yours truly and photographer Abby Yedman. Kim and Andres

About a month ago, I got the chance to film a very special event: The wedding of photographer and good friend Andres Valenzuela and his beautiful bride Kimberly. I must say that this was, in my opinion, one of the most intimate and beautiful wedding ceremonies I have ever witnessed.

The ceremony, which took place at Nyack College where Andres and Kim first met and grew their relationship, was held "in-the-round" and was the site where Kim and Andres said their touching, self-written wedding vows. Aside from all of that, I got to film alongside my beautiful and talented Fiance Vanessa Joy, as well as nationally-recognized photographers Kenny Kim and Tomas Flint.

It is my privilege and honor to present to Kim and Andres, their wedding day highlights video.

Nancy and Frank - SAME DAY EDIT

Nancy and Frank had their wedding on Saturday August 22, 2009 in New Rochelle, NY. While we really didn't get the opportunity to film her morning preparations or photo session, we still were able to be present for her touching ceremony and fun reception. As always, it was great to shoot with award-winning photographer Jeri Houseworth and Limor from Koru Event Design who did a great job on the invitations and day-of coordination. The one great thing about about being engaged to someone you work with is when you have a great time doing it. That was the case on August 14th, 2009 for Nicole and John's wedding. In Parsippany, NJ there is a Sheraton hotel that was built to look just like a castle on the outside. It's a popular place for one-stop weddings in North Jersey and the site of Rebecca and Rich's wedding on August 15th, 2009. This video was edited for them that day and shown that evening during their awesome reception...the party didn't stop until 1AM. You guys rock!

Kyleen and Jay had an amazing wedding in Point Pleasant and Freehold, NJ on August 8, 2009. We were there of course to capture all of the action. Photo sessions at the shore are fun, especially when the Bride and Groom get to walk amongst sunbathers in full wedding garb :) Here is the video we had running during their reception at The Courtyard on Main.

SAME DAY EDITS ARE HERE!!!! In HD of course....

Making the switch over from Standard Definition Video to High Definition Video requires a LOT of equipment upgrades. Very expensive upgrades. But with those upgrades comes more toys, and with more toys comes more fun and more new ways to produce stunning quality videos. For example, we no longer shoot on tape but on flash memory which means I can shoot something and then immediately load it into my trusty MacBook Pro and get editing right away. Thats how the idea of SAME DAY EDITS came to be.

While my guests are enjoying their cocktail hour, I sit down for a few minutes a whip together a short video loop of shots from the day thus far. Shortly after, the wedding guests get to see a full screen HIGH DEFINITION preview of the couple's wedding video right at the reception. I usually will play the video on the gift table or by the sign-in book for maximum visibility. For example: this SAME DAY EDIT from Alicia and Joe's Wedding just last weekend.

Kay Unger Video

A couple of weeks ago Vanessa and I had the opportunity to shoot Kay Unger's new fall line of dresses and Pheobe Couture brand of misses clothing. The end result was a great video that Kay will use to support her upcoming fashion show in China. That's right. A signature Rob Adams Production will be screening in the Far East to thousands. NOW SHOOTING IN HIGH-DEFINITION!!!!

It took some time to achieve but it is now a reality. Rob Adams Productions is now filming entirely in High Definition.

HD technology at the wedding video level has been around for a year or so now, but I chose not to jump in immediately. I wanted to wait until the first generation cameras had run their course and the major manufacturers improved upon their base models, developing better sensor technology for better images and more manageable file sizes. And WOW have they done it.

I just picked-up the revolutionary Sony HVR-Z5U camera. This thing is a beast. It shoots FULL 1080P HDV at 24 frames per second. That's 1080 24P for you TV enthusiasts. What this means essentially is that my videos will now offer a full 1080 lines of horizontal resolution for an AMAZING picture quality and clarity. The 24 frames per second gives it a progressive scan for a film-like look that can only be achieved in the newer HDV cameras. It also shoots to both digital tape AND compact flash memory cards to cut down on editing time and for added security.

I just shot my first wedding in the new format this past week so I'll be working on editing it real soon so I'll have a nice HD demo. A piece of that will be thrown up here for viewing as soon as it is done. These final products will also be delivered to our clients on Blu-ray Disc!

Rob Adams Productions is very excited to take this next step into the age of HD capture and Blu-ray Disc delivery.

A Swinging Good Time

Sometimes a job comes along that completely makes you remember why it is you do what you do. Well, this past Saturday was one of those weddings. Jessica and Paul's wedding was an absolute blast, especially when it came to hitting the rides at the boardwalk in Point Pleasant. How often do you get to film while spinning about 60 feet off the ground, turned backwards, and holding on for dear life. FUN STUFF! Kudos to Craig and Autumn Pittelli for the amazing images.

I do shore weddings. A LOT OF SHORE WEDDINGS. So it's nice when one comes along now-and-again that makes you remember why it is you do what you do. A Tale of Two Photo Shoots - Part 1

From the looks of things, it may seem like we're trying to set some sort of record for the most completely documented marriage engagement...but we're really not. Vanessa and I just want things to be photographically covered. First, my proposal to her, which was professionally recorded in both video and still photo form, and now the first of two fun photo sessions; our Save-the-Date magnet images.

It was a cold, bitter day in late April when VJ and I got together with one of our many photographer friends Craig Pittelli (www.pittelliphotography.com) and took to the streets of Red Bank to let him photograph us, photographing another couple. That couple is none other than Justin and Gen LeBlanc, who have been trying to set a record for the amount of times a Bride puts her wedding dress back on. (Gen did so once already for another photo/video shoot)

The end result are these fun images, which incorporate the story of how we met shooting weddings together and are ultimately planning our own.

Vanessa has already put together an awesome composite for the magnets, which I'll upload as soon as possible.

It dawned on me recently that the video I made of my proposal to Vanessa was never posted to my blog. It was on Facebook for a while, and it's on YouTube, but I figured I should share it here as well. Check it out. This is the actual documentation of the proposal in NYC on March 21, 2009. I really surprised her good, which was a challenge because she already knew I had the ring. I'm thinking of offer these types of videos to my clients too. Any feedback is welcome. ENJOY!!!

I can't imagine there was a more sought-after wedding date in 2008 than 8-8-08. That's the day Marisa and Charlie Bryer were married . We had to battle the rain a bit to get the photos in before the ceremony but everything worked out splendidly. Here's a sample of their video which was just delivered to them this week.

There won't be a 9-9-09, unless someone has a Wednesday wedding so the next big one will likely be 10-10-10...it's a Sunday. Thanks Marisa and Charlie. I'm so glad you LOVE your video.

On another note, Vanessa and I are moving quite swiftly with our wedding plans. We've all but finalized the hall, we have our DJ, Vanessa found her dress (the day we got engaged), and of course we've decided on our photographers and videographers. Now if we could only find a nice picturesque church near Monmouth University.

The closest I'll ever come to playing minor league baseball

I had a great opportunity this week to do some filming work for the Lakewood Blueclaws. For those of you who don't know, they are the World Champion Philidelphia Phillies farm club here at the Jersey Shore. Vanessa and I spent some time down on the field interviewing players and coaches and taking in a very cold but refreshing start to baseball season. As much as I love to shoot weddings, it's filming like this that reminds me ow much there is to do in this industry.
